A challenging vacancy currently exists for a dynamic, professional and customer-focused Hotel Manager to oversee operations of our hotel and rest camps. The successful candidate will be closely involved in running the national parkâs tourism facilities. To excel in this role, you must be approachable and detailed-oriented with proven hospitality and management experience. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patterson Grade: D5
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Patterson D5 band job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration or relevant field.
A minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in hotel management.
Working knowledge of OHS
Proven knowledge of OHS Act and implementation of safety standards
Sound financial experience
Strong understanding of hotel management best practices and data entry software.
Outstanding interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
Exceptional leadership abilities with great attention to detail
Working knowledge of relevant legislation
Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages and relevant booking systems
Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, project management, conflict resolution and community liaison skills
Willingness to work long and irregular hours
Sound organisational, administrative and negotiation skills
A valid driver’s license
Manage the day-to-day operations of a hotel with 56 rooms and 34 chalets, conference facilities and restaurant; as well as a rest camp with 31 units, a camping site and 8 high-end mountain log cabins.
Provide oversight over the running of the Dinosaur Interpretation Centre
Monitor employee performance and conduct regular evaluations to help improve customer service.
Resolve issues regarding hotel services, amenities, and policies.
Managing implementation and administration of policies and budget according to operational plans and relevant legislation
Organize activities and assign responsibilities to employees to ensure productivity.
Create and apply a marketing strategy to promote the services and amenities of the tourism products.
Coordinate with external parties including suppliers, travel agencies, event and conference planners.
Evaluate the performance of the tourism products and ensure compliance with health and safety rules.
